Your First Month Plan

A week-by-week guide for your first 4 weeks of training

Week 1: Learn the Movements

Focus entirely on learning proper form. Use very light weight or just bodyweight. Do 2-3 full-body workouts this week. Don't worry about going heavy — your only job is to understand how each movement should feel. Expect some soreness — that's normal and will decrease over time.

Week 2: Build the Habit

Continue with 3 workouts. Start adding light weight now that you know the movements. Stick to 3 sets of 10-12 reps for each exercise. Focus on showing up consistently — the habit matters more than the weight. Start tracking your workouts so you have a baseline.

Week 3: Start Progressing

This is where progressive overload begins. Try to add a small amount of weight or 1-2 extra reps compared to last week. You should start feeling more confident with the movements. Pay attention to which exercises feel natural and which need more practice.

Week 4: Find Your Rhythm

By now, the gym should feel more comfortable. You know your way around the equipment, you have a routine, and you're starting to see small improvements in strength. Review your workout logs from week 1 — you'll likely notice you're already lifting more or doing more reps.

What Comes Next

After the first month, you'll have a solid foundation. From here, you can: - Increase training frequency to 4 days/week - Start following a structured program - Experiment with different rep ranges - Set specific strength goals The hardest part is the first month. If you've made it this far, you've already separated yourself from most people who give up. Keep going.
